Mr. Little's "The Mailman," was the very first thing I ever Read of his. I was blown away. I had never read a story so bleak and maddening before. I spent this whole story, almost entirely, being mad as hell at the characters for not seeming to do anything! Me? Im thinking of all the things I'd try, and as creepy as this is, I knew I'd probably get caught too. I've been reading Mr. Little for at least 10 years now, and I'll admit, that back then "I was 41", and I'd still never heard of this guy. One trip to Hastings for books, and them having a bad book month, and I saw this in paperback, loved the cover and the rest is history! Since then I've read all of Little's books and e-books. Found a few stinkers along the way and quite a few of his books have the same theme, just in different environments. But, for me this tale is one of the best. Yep, I'd recommend this story and especially this author. One very creepy book!Tags : The Mailman [Bentley Little] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers.,Bentley Little,The Mailman,Headline,0747208905,Modern fiction
The Mailman Bentley Little 9780747208907 Books Reviews
This is my first Bentley Little book … but it definitely won't be my last. Well written, fiendishly conceived and damned unsettling. I'm writing this review about 60% of the way through and feel compelled to tell others about it. I read before bed, but this book has me struggling every night between wanting to know what happens next and not being able to sleep well.
Bentley Little is a rare find !
His books are so intriguing you will not want to put them down...

I waited 20 plus years to read this book because it was out if print, and I've read everything from Bentley little.
I did enjoy this book. I'm glad I read it. But it was a bit slow and I list interest in it a couple times. But I did finish it.
Another winner from Bentley Little. I loved this novel and the use of the mailman as the main character was superb. Bentley shows us once again that evil and horror can come in any form. The story is very well written and the suspense and horror builds to a terrific climax. I love how Bentley creates twists and turns that lead to unpredictable outcomes. This is my fourth novel of his and am looking forward to reading many more.
I will admit I have enjoyed many of Mr. littles books. They are usually quick reads with enough quirky horror to elevate them past their pulpiness. This one started better than ever but really lost me at 75% the act of making the mundane evil is fascinating but the reveal and conclusion wasn’t worth the journey
Didn't realize how old this book was when I purchased it but I still really liked it. It wouldn't work in this age of technology so you have to put yourself in a time when snail mail was the only option. I really thought it was good and creepy. My favorite part was that the English teacher saves the day by realizing his past student would know when to use "who" rather than "that" in a sentence. As a self confessed grammar Nazi, that made me cheer for the nerds who love grammar. Take THAT Mailman!
Mailman was decent but the premise is ridiculous and could never happen today, what with the internet. A lot of suspension of disbelief. Little's writing (as usual) held my attention all the way through but the end was disappointing.
This book does have quite a number of tension-filled moments and scares and by the end you really do want to see the mailman get his comeuppance. He's such a vile creation. you really hate the guy!
The last Bentley Little book I read was the which was fantastic because it seemed so plausible. Here, the plot is not totally believable.
